Why Choose AIRFLOOR™?

Efficient Displacement Ventilation

AIRFLOOR is a room air distribution system where conditioned outdoor air is supplied at a low velocity from air supply diffusers located near floor level and extracted above the occupied zone, usually at ceiling height. AIRFLOOR allows for maximum efficiency in this process.

Superior Alternative

AIRFLOOR is an improved alternative to a hot water radiant system since it has the same radiant benefits plus the cost-saving advantage that both heating and cooling are provided by a single system.

Heating and Cooling Comfort

Since the floor mass releases or absorbs heat between system cyclings, the periodic temperature fluctuations common to duct systems are virtually eliminated, as well as cold drafts.

Reduced Energy Costs

AIRFLOOR will save up to 15% on energy costs due to the efficiency of its heat-transfer and heat-storage characteristics.

LEED Certified HVAC Product

AIRFLOOR Products are LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, certifiable,  This is changing the way we think about how buildings are planned, constructed, maintained and operated. Leaders around the world have made LEED the most widely used third-party verification for green buildings, with around 1.85 million square feet being certified daily. LEED-certified buildings are resource efficient. They use less water and energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As an added bonus, they save money. Learn more about why LEED continues to be the leading benchmark in green building.

Design Flexibility

The AIRFLOOR SYSTEM allows complete freedom in the placement of air registers since these outlets can be placed anywhere within the floor or walls. Partitions can be moved anywhere within the space and individual registers can be installed or removed at any location. Soffits will not be required to hide supply air ducts.

Eliminate Drop Ceilings

Drop ceilings can be eliminated since the air flows through the floor system instead of an overhead duct system.

Noise Reduction

Since conditioning air is distributed under the floor, mechanical noises, vibrations and air flow sounds are reduced to a level below awareness.

How is AIRFLOOR™ Installed?

Some of the major advantages of AIRFLOOR™ include:

  • Minimizes floor assembly and thickness
  • Can be used with any finished floor material (wood, carpet, stone, etc…)
  • No need to coordinate duct runs with other systems like structure, lighting and plumbing
  • Cost effective
  • Any type of in-wall, floor or ceiling register can be used
  • Registers can be placed anywhere within AIRFLOOR™
  • The system is easily zoned
  • Similar response times to a traditional forced air system while also providing radiant properties
  • An almost silent, and a low velocity system

How does it compare in cost?

Why Choose AIRFLOOR™?

The cost of AIRFLOOR is the same as a quality overhead duct system. In some buildings the first cost may be even less if the savings from eliminating drop ceilings or soffits are included. Compared to a hot water floor radiant system, AIRFLOOR will cost less because a hot water radiant system must include an overhead duct system to provide ventilation.
